Garbage Pick Up

This service has always been something offered to SPS customers over the years, yet with the changes in Guelph's waste removal program and the recent strike of 2006, the service has become more important.

Every morning (almost) SPS travels from Woodlawn to Stone Road picking up little jobs the same way as a cabby picks up people.  It was easy to include garbage in the route.  It was harder to come up with rates.

The rates have been arrived at and follow.

Guidelines

• What normally goes in a green bag can be put in any colour of regular size bag. 
• Unflattened cardboard boxes are each charged out as a bag. (Fridge boxes are a different story)
• Flattened and bundled cardboard that occupies roughly the same space as a bag, counts as one bag.
• Please do not talk to workers.  A neighborly hello and the tip of a hat is cheaper.  (Talk time is $0.75 per minute)
• Do not make the bags too heavy, (no containers are dumped) clean up cost from ripped bags is $10.00.
• Once a pick up date has been scheduled, changes to this date could result in an increase of price.

During the strike

• Work with your neighbor, it will save you money.  Create one pick up spot and one representative for us to invoice.
• Place garbage along your drive, but closer to your house.  People adding to the pile cost you money.  Please make the path from the truck to the garbage clear of vehicles, dogs and ice wherever possible.

Payment

All customers who use the garbage pick up service must prepay.  The invoices are sent by Email.  Statements are emailed out when your balance is close to 0 or upon request.  Minimum prepayment is $40.00.

If you do not have Email, (you probably would not be reading this) invoices are generated weekly and only statements are mailed.  You may phone into the office at any time to get a detail of the invoices.
